This set is for communicating on two radios. These also have built-in electronic hearing protection (like the pletor electronic ear muffs) that you can control the volume of. When there's a loud sound such as a gun shot, the cicruitry automatically mutes that sound so it doesn't get to your ears. Sometimes you can hear even better since you can increase the volume.
